ABOUT KAYAKING: Calleva started with only 3 core activities, and kayaking was one! Boating has always been at the heart of everything we do here, and if you take a look at staff pictures you will notice the popularity of this sport amongst the calleva community. Our kayaking camps take advantage of the world class kayaking spots around the Potomac waterways. The Potomac River has been the east coast mecca to eastern kayaking, and we continue the tradition with superb instruction and ideal locations. Kayaking is the activity where the one-week session proves itself unparalleled. Campers see realistic daily improvements and are excited to find out what's next.. Kayaking is one of those activities that the more time you can get in the boat - the better it is. Calleva's boats and equipment are perfect for the camper and with the proper equipment skills are acquired faster. Calleva's premier boat for campers are the Dagger Dynamo & Blast, and our instructors are so excited to get their campers in the water and working on those skills. We always start with boat exiting
exercises, so campers feel comfortable and are able to progress without hesitation. Our program is designed so that campers can progress at a pace that suits them. With our great staff ratios, campers can work on their specific deficiencies and be guided towards improvements. Besides all the kayaking time our campers get in day to day, our camps are fun. Staff lead their groups with fun games and initiatives, daily challenges, and positive goal setting efforts. The camp flows with a positive building blocks style curriculum and ends with an incredible overnight.
