ABOUT RAFTING: Rafting is all about teamwork. Campers work together to get down the river and enjoy themselves along the way. Although many think it is all about the fun (which there is plenty of), Rafting is about understanding our rivers and waterways. It is a way for those that do not kayak to get into the rapids, and learn how to react in whitewater, controlling themselves, their vessel, and recognizing the challenges within their environment. As the week progresses, so do the challenges in rapids and challenges. Campers are guided by their Instructor to increase their awareness, and increase their roles within the group. Campers will have the opportunity to lead the raft, read the river for signs of descent, and organize the gear for proper outfitting. A perfect way to end the week is on the overnight where depending on age, skills, and water level - new adventures will be found. Skills are put to the test, and campers are able to see the improvements that were made throughout the week.

Water Level (lil' falls)

BASIC NEEDSLIST: All campers are expected to bring everyday: Water bottle, Swimming Suit (plus Shorts, & T-Shirt), Towel, Water Shoes, Sunscreen & Lunch. Calleva provides all safety/technical gear including: Helmet, Life-Jacket, Rafts, Paddles, & Throw Ropes. Participants may bring their own paddling gear, but first must be inspected by Instructor.

BASIC OVERNIGHT NEEDS: Sleeping Pad, Sleeping Bag, Daily Needs, change of clothes, Flashlight/Headlamp, Cup, Bowl, & Spoon, Warm Jacket, Rain Gear.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: When all campers in the group are over 12 years old, then we may choose to outsource the rafting (on the overnight) because of permitting issues. All campers must be the minimum age of 12 years old to meet regulation standards on the Lower Yough. If the Lower Yough option is selected then parents will also have to fill out a waiver for Wilderness Voyager to attend the overnight. Calleva covers all expenses and oversees the entire trip downriver.

KEY POINT: All campers and staff in the water must wear appropriate safety gear at ALL times (PFD)!
