2008 Field Sports / C&O Adventures

Field Sports / C&O Adventures are rolled under one Activity Head but are offered to each camper 4 times a week. For two "Field Sport" classes a week, campers will be engaged in different games from tag to kickball on the fields surrounding the Calleva HDQRS. The other two "C&O Adventure" classes a week are more free form activities where Activity Head gets to decide from the multiple resources at their disposal what they want to do. Hiking the canal, creeking in the tributaries, tubing the creek, boarding the hill, or fishing the river are all possibilities. Campers have a chance to enjoy being a kid, get dirty, and explore the nooks and crannies of our outdoor neighborhood. A visit to the old Stone Mill will bring stories and imaginations to life, while a trek down the canal is a walk through time. Campers learn about the river, do some service, and feel connected to their natural environment.

All explorers do all activities, unless for health reasons.

Last Year, our Director "Baldylocks" lead his troop of explorers from field to field, creek to river, and hill to mound. Introducing the Splash concept of field sports, he provided ample time for campers to cool off. Often in costume and always having fun, he is the reason campers fell asleep on the bus!!!

This Year, Splash will be fully integrated into kickball and such with the use of multiple inflatable pools.
