About CLS: For 17 years, Calleva has been the leading provider of outdoor adventure and leadership training for youth and adults in the Washington DC area. The Calleva Leadership School (CLS) offers life-changing high adventure trips that integrate wilderness camping, adventure sports ad leadership training for young people. While participating in physically challenging activities, CLS students reach beyond comfort zones to experience incredible person and team success while building strong skills in their choosen activities. IN the process, they gain increased confidence and self discipline which contributtes to success in school, sports, friendships and family relationships. All CLS trips will include:

  •  1. Trips are co-ed and designed for students ages 12-17. Our students to staff ratio is 5:1 for all trips. *Age acceptions made for siblings &/or experienced campers.
  •  2. Trips will model and teach Leave No Trace (LNT) camping ethic and practices, including minimalist/ lightweight packing techniques, waste minimization and water purification methods, wildlife identification and preservation, and wilderness survival. 
  • 3. All instructors and counselors will be equipped with a working cellphone and will be in touch with the Calleva office regularly during the trip. 
  • 4. Specific travel itineraries and equipment needs list will be provided to trip registrants.

TRAVEL: Calleva provides all transportation for local CLS programs through our fleet of Buses. Further information is available on each individual page. Airfare is not included, the office picks suggested flights for each program and offers the option of ordering through Calleva and traveling with staff. Parents/Campers can make their own flight a rrangements using miles or discounts, as long as they arrive at the destination within a reasonable time frame.
