For 17 years, Calleva has been the leading provider of outdoor adventure and leadership training for youth and adults in the Washington DC area. The Calleva Leadership School (CLS) offers life-changing high adventure trips that integrate wilderness camping, adventure sports and leadership training for young people. While participating in physically challenging activities, CLS students reach beyond comfort zones to experience incredible personal and team success while building strong skills in their choosen activities. In the process, they gain increased confidence and self discipline which contributes to success in school, sports, friendships and family relationships. Letter from CLS Director

All CLS trips:

  • Co-ed and designed for students ages 12-17. Our students to staff ratio is 5:1 for all trips. *Age acceptions made for siblings &/or experienced campers.
  • Model and teach Leave No Trace (LNT) camping ethic and practices, including minimalist/ lightweight packing techniques, waste minimization and water purification methods, wildlife identification and preservation, and wilderness survival.
  • Have Instructors and counselors with a working cellphone and are in touch with the Calleva office.
  • Scholarships Available.

Travel: Calleva provides all transportation for local CLS programs through our fleet of Buses. Specific information and Itineraries are available on each individual page. Calleva provides all logistical needs once the trip has started, however parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up students before and after the trip. For most CLS Trips, parents must drop off students for continental breakfasts at Calleva Office between 7-8am on Monday Mornings, and pick them up for dinner & shares between 6-7pm on Friday Evening.
