Calleva is now introducing the Cubs, which will let 4 and 5 year old campers experience the outdoors. Cubs have been a goal for the last several years and 2012 this goal will become a reality. Our priority for our Cubs is to experience a wide variety of outdoor adventures that help build passion, confidence, unity and appreciation.
About Cubs:
The Cubs of Calleva have a shorter day from 9am to 3pm with seperate transportation and council from the bigger kids in Explorers and Adventure Camp. Cubs ride in on their very own bus to RIley's Lock and are limited to only 24 campers per week. Transportation is limited to Glen Echo Park (off MacArtur Blvd) and Whitman H.S.. Pick-Up and Drop-Off times are around 9am and 3pm, and Parents will be notified of the exact times the week before their Cub goes to Camp. The Cubs den at Riley's Lock is the "Blue House" and from this ideal location, Cubs will be able to migrate from Pooles Store down back to the Den throughout the day and week. There are also "Cub Treks" on Wednesdays of each week visiting neighboring Farms (including the Calleva Farm) and neighboring Parks.
Activities:
Activities for the Cubs will be well rounded with Grassy Adventures which include land activities like hiking, field sports, scavenger hunts and camping skills. Cubs will also splash into H2O adventures which lets them experience the joys of water with kayaking, canoeing, tubing and other water themed activities. Arts & Song will give the young campers a chance to do arts and crafts and learn camp songs that they’ll never forget. Helping raise and learning about Small Animals will be apart of the Cubs. Once a week the cubs will explore parks, farms and other areas in the Montgomery county Agriculture reserve on Cub Treks. A week with the Cubs will be life changing and the start of many adventures to come in the outdoors. Ultimately we want every camper to end their week with a new friend, able to try something new and have more self esteem. Scholarships Available.
