When long-time camper/staffer Matt Gresko started running Duncan's Adventure, and did so accepting an identity change.... we realized he had earned his own spot. Although Gresko loved the outdoors, he never could never focus on just one activity - so we decided it was time to expand the Sampler Camp. (even though he was pushing for Dance Camp!). Although Gresko will not be returning, his spirit and name will live on at Calleva with this super-charged Sampler program. Here is the "every camper" activity where campers get a chance to sample some of the most popular activities Calleva has to offer. Unlike our Sampler Camp, Gresko's Adventure DOES have an overnight along with a great line-up of WATER activities: Raft, Kayak, Canoe and a wonderful DUCKY overnight! Duckies are inflatable kayaks (one & two person), and are perfect for introducing campers to white water & hauling overnight gear. For those who were trying to get into Adventure Island, here is your chance. And for those that can't decide which great activity to choose from - look no further!
The Week 3 Overnight is:
Ducky Adventure
Potomac RIver
Basic Overnight:
- Day 1,2,or 3: Raft @ Mather Gorge Potomac.
- Day 1,2,or 3: Kayaking @ Rileys Lock.
- Day 1,2,or 3: Canoe to Adventure Island.
- Overnight Options: Ducky the Potomac, Ducky the Monocacy
Basic Needslist: All campers are expected to bring everyday: Water Bottle, Shorts and T-Shirt, Bathing Suit and Towel, one pair of Closed-Toe Land Shoes, one pair of Closed-Toe Water Shoes, & Lunch. Calleva provides all safety/technical gear including: Helmet, Headlamps, Caving Suits, Padding, & Ropes. Participants may bring their own caving gear, but gear must first be inspected by Instructor.
Basic Overnight Needs: Sleeping Pad, Sleeping Bag, Daily Needs: 2 changes of clothes for caves, Flashlight/Headlamp, Cup, Bowl, & Spoon, Warm Jacket, Rain Gear. *Clothes will get wet in cave on day 1 of overnight!!! EXTRA LUNCH FOR FRIDAY!
Special Considerations: This is a Sampler Camp with an overnight! Although this camp is primarily Water-based, campers will not be spending ALL day in the water. Daily itinerary may shuffle order, but activities will remain those listed unless weather, water levels, and/or environmental conditions prevent them.
2012 Instructor: TBD (Not Gresko!)
