Scout Programs

About Scouting Programs: Over the years Calleva has unknowingly been involved with numerous Scouting programs. Every year more and more troops find out about Calleva and give us a call. Personally, I think they came before Schools, but every calendar has a spattering of Scouts (both boy & girl). Our waistlines have been damaged by many a Girl Scout Cookie, but we have also shared many memorable trips around a campfire or on the side of a cliff. With the rising cost of insurance and risks of running adventure programs in-house, we have developed a strong network of troops that are outsourcing some of the more technical activities.

In addition, our Scouts have also been looking for land to pitch a tent, an Eagle Scout project, or a high adventure weekend! If you're working on Merit Badges or need to talk to someone about ideas and locations for future outings, Calleva can help. Karen Seibert, a Scout leader herself, took the reins over to give our scouting programs some consistency and leadership. The focus of our scouting programs are Leadership, teamwork, friendships, safety, and achievement. If you need a little or lots of help, contact Calleva and find out what is available to you. We are conveniently located on C&O Canal.

Programming: Calleva is offering a variety of scouting programs varying from a morning horseback riding to a teambuilding day on the ropes, to a day or weekend tailored for your pack or troop (min. of 10) learning the skills of rock-climbing, canoeing, kayaking, caving, rafting, or a combo of these activities. We are also ready to plan or host your next weekend Service Unit Encampment or Jamboree for 2006. Our scouting programs are set up almost identically to our School Programs. Please School Web Pages for a description of all the activities available to your troop.

UNIQUE CONCERNS: With all the students and campers that come through a Calleva program, we see many special concerns that must be addressed. From severe allergic reactions & special dietary needs to emotional & physical disabilities, we try to accommodate and foster an environment where everyone can flourish. If your program has specific needs it is best to call the office and speak with a director so we can adjust the program for the group or individual. We recognize that programs need to be inclusive for all the students, and during the planning stage we can address any specifics that you might have.
