RIDING Club

Sundays & Wednesdays

Calleva Equestrian Educational Program (CEEP)

Club has evolved to accommodate those people who want to "test the waters" of horsemanship. This 2 hour class runs every Sunday from 2 pm till 4pm and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm at the outdoor arena at the old Darnestown facility . Club does not run during the summer months or in the rain, snow or sub zero temperatures. We have kept the costs VERY affordable to entice first time riders to check out the wonderful world of horses. We know there people who want to learn about horses but do not want to take the finacial risk of purchasing formal lessons just incase they discover that riding is not for them. (Haven't met one of these people yet!) Formal lesson programs involve larger financial obligation as well as consistency. Club is also great for those considering the purchase of their first horse or pony.

Club is a come as you please, first come first serve program. At Club we do not build our lesson topics precept upon precept, as in the formal lesson program, therefore if one misses a week or two they won't feel "left behind". One hour is spent on un-mounted activities and the other hour is spent on horseback. Un-mounted activities may include, learning parts of the horse, grooming, cleaning a saddle or bridle, learning about different colors and breeds of horses, feeding do's and don'ts, basic equine illnesses and first aid, etc. Riding activities may include informal lessons, obstacle courses, games, trail rides, etc. Club has a very laid back feel which helps novice horsemen feel at ease. Come and join us, see if you like it! Call the office at 301 216 1248 or email riding@calleva.org for more details.
