WEEKEND CLIMBING PROGRAMS
$120/Individual ($300/ 3 class package)
CLIMBING CLASSES:
Saturdays 8am to 1pm at Carderock or Great Falls.
ABOUT WEEKEND CLIMBING:Calleva offers 3 progressive climbing classes. Each one offers new skills and reinforces skills from previous classes. Participants will acquire the skills necessary to get them climbing safely on their own. Learn both hard and soft skills that will give you confidence in the vertical realm. Each class focuses on a specific set of skills and builds the rest of the class around hammering those skills to instinct. Get the right instruction, and don't build on bad habits. Our experienced staff, in addition to being great teachers, also possess the passion to get you psyched about your new extreme sport.
Climbing Class I (Carderock)
The ABCs of climbing are as easy as climbing classes I, II, & III! Your first class will introduce you to the equipment, the basic movement & climbing technique, and hard technical skills (knots, commands, roles, and responsibilities). Along with belaying skills, this introductory class will allow you to fall in love with a sport we are so fond of. All participants will have ample time on the rocks to be coached/critiqued, as well as play time!
Climbing Class II (Great Falls)
You move forward with a firm handle on the skills from the previous class. Review and revisit many aspects from Class I, but take it up a notch. Here, we offer a wider variety of climbs as well as an in-depth experience with the fun world of Rappelling! Although relatively easy, rappelling involves a strong knowledge of base skills, and those skills apply to every aspect of climbing. Your second experience on the cliffs will solidify many of those base skills and give you direction towards where you are going and what you can expect.
Climbing Class III (Great Falls)
This is the one that prepares you to go out on your own. You'll want to go get some of your own gear and introduce others to the sport, but you have to be safe. This class introduces you to anchors and advanced climbing techniques, as well as reviewing all previous skills. Participants will be involved with setting up and climbing on routes that they assisted in setting! Participants will be given an in-depth review of strengths and weaknesses. A very exciting class that you may want to repeat until you feel confident to go it on your own!!
