Ropes Course at the National Harbor

*9/12 due to a large private group the ropes course opening time will be delayed until 2pm.


Calleva’s innovative pirate-themed ropes course is located at the top of American Way, where it intersects with St. George Avenue.

On weekdays, Calleva offers customized group programs. ADVANCED RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR GROUPS OF 15 OR MORE. Contact our main office for more information, office@calleva.org.

Individual clients will be welcome on weekends, when the course will be open for a “clip-in” circuit of thrilling high-ropes elements including a 400-foot long zip line, a “giant swing” and a 30-foot high rock climbing wall.

  • Main ship – The three-story shipwreck resembles a ship that has broken in half. It offers 15 high ropes elements, a platform for low ropes elements & an amphitheater for group set-up and debrief activities.

  • Clipper ship – This ship is “moored” intact, offers a platform for additional low ropes elements, and allows participants to practice sail rigging skills as they move about on high ropes elements.

  • A stand-alone Lighthouse provides the launch platform for a 400-foot zip line as well as a 30-foot rock climbing wall.

  • Throughout the grounds, groups can take on a variety of challenges, including an unsolved treasure map and a balancing puzzle that makes use of a sextant and a team’s ingenuity.

Zip Line -- The RIDE OF YOUR LIFE!! Climb to the top of our 40-foot lighthouse and take a wild ride on our 400-foot zip line. You’ll feel like you’re flying over the ships and the view is spectacular.

Giant Swing -- Hook onto our giant swing for a swashbuckling drop down at the end of our Main Ship. The giant swing is for the most adventurous mates – the drop will make you say “Argh!”

Rock Climbing Wall -- Test your mettle on our 30-foot climb from the grass up to the top of the lighthouse. Climbers who reach the top can rappel to the ground with help from our expert belayers.

Main Ship (For patrons age 13 and older) -- Climb the rigging like a true pirate! Participants will climb our 3-story ship – either via cargo netting or on spikes pounded into the towering masts. At the second story, you’ll leap from floating platform to floating platform, cross a swinging bridge and ultimately reach the third level. A zip line launch 30+ feet high will provide an awesome 200-foot slide back down to the ground.
